Compasso d’Oro ADI 2024: Vimar awarded the Honourable Mention thanks to Linea

On Thursday 20th June, in the prestigious Design museum in Milan, the international jury of the Compasso d’Oro Award bestowed Linea, Vimar’s innovative wiring series, with the highly coveted Honourable Mention. Now in its 28th edition, the Compasso d’Oro is the world’s most esteemed and longest-standing design award. Established in 1954 based on a concept by Giò Ponti and subsequently donated to the ADI, which has been in charge of its organisation since 1958, the award has over seventy years of existence brought together and rewarded the most representative products of Italian design in the Association’s Historic Collection.

From today, the Linea series has also joined the coveted permanent collection of the Compasso d’Oro, declared by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as being of “exceptional historical and artistic interest” and is therefore included among the products of national heritage in its own right. The international jury, made up of a panel of experts, including designers and journalists, rewarded Linea not only for its unprecedented and stylish design, capable of bringing together the understated allure of sophisticated styling with state-of-the-art technology, but also due to its numerous patents and its focus on sustainability. Linea combines innovation and tradition, giving rise to a veritable item of interior décor that is both discreet and distinctive, whatever the architectural setting.

Distinguished by minimal thickness, the series provides controls that are perfectly flush with the cover plate, interrupted solely by the delicately curved profile of the aligned button, patented with in-line technology. What’s more, the detail of the control backlighting, with an exclusive vertical light beam, creates areas of soft brightness. The dynamic soul of the series is completed by the innovative XT platform, designed to accommodate current functional trends, thanks to an ergonomic design and ample expandability of the system, thus integrating into the line-up of solutions for a smart home and home automation systems. Linea is also designed with a sustainableapproach: by replacing conventional fossil-fuel based plastics with plastics from recycled and renewable sources, thanks to optimised production processes and the use of FSC certified eco-sustainable packaging, a more than 80% reduction of CO2 equivalent emissions produced is recorded, saving more than 500 tonnes of CO2 each year.
